Something For Everyone In The Theatre This Weekend

By Rodney Rollins on October 14, 2012

This weekend is the perfect weekend to go to the movies. The big screens seem to be jam packed with a lot of quality movies of all different genres and for all different occasions. There’s everything from action flicks, family, thrillers and everything in between

First are movies that are currently playing and opened up over the past couple of weeks. Frankenweenie and Hotel Transylvania are two of the top animated films of the year and they just so happen to be playing on the same weekend. Taken 2 and Looper are two highly anticipated action movies that have just hit theaters and House at the End of the Street is a thriller if you’re looking to get into the Halloween scene a bit early!

Frankenweenie is an animated movie about the tale of Frankenstein, complete with a little twist by the innovative and always popular Tim Burton (Nightmare Before Christmas, Alice in Wonderland).  Hotel Transylvania is also a movie that stems from a legendary tale, but this film pulls from about 6 different stories and it is turned into a high-quality comedy with a fantastic cast.

Taken 2 has hit theaters and has a lot of moviegoers buzzing with excitement. Its the sequel to one of the best action movies in a long time. Another hit in the action genre, Looper, is equipped with an all-star cast that includes Bruce Willis and Joseph Gordon-Levitt. The film deals with contract killing in the present and future.

House at the End of the Street is about a mother and a daughter who make a fresh start in a small town and slowly start to hear about the small house next door. It also stars Jennifer Lawrence, the star of the summer hit The Hunger Games.

It doesn’t stop there either, this weekend is a host of a bunch of great premiers as well. There’s the big CIA undercover movie Argo in which Ben Affleck directs and  stars as a CIA agent who creates a fake movie to get dipilomats into a terrorists land. It’s also based on true events.

There’s Also a perfect “chick-flick” coming out called The Perks of Being a Wallflower which stars Emma Watson going through the highs and lows of a girl growing up and learning about love.

And  as for comedy the friday offers the release of Seven Psychopaths and Here Comes the Boom. Seven Psychopaths is targeted to the older crowd and this plot comes straight from moviefone.com but it is described perfectly..

“Written and Directed by Oscar-winner Martin McDonagh, the comedy ‘Seven Psychopaths’ follows a struggling screenwriter (Colin Farrell) who inadvertently becomes entangled in the Los Angeles criminal underworld after his oddball friends (Christopher Walken and Sam Rockwell) kidnap a gangster’s (Woody Harrelson) beloved Shih Tzu”

If your going for a more family comedy Here Comes the Boom  offers Kevin James starring as a teacher who takes on mixed martial arts (MMA) to help pay for the school’s music program.

I’m sure if you have nothing to do on the weekend or just want to catch a flick, you will certainly be able to find something you enjoy, and you really can’t go wrong.
