Cons: Rude
Makes class required, even though his lectures don't give clarity
Extremely difficult to understand
For business-minded students makes the concepts more challenging
Impossible tests
He may come across as a nice guy to the average student because he uses a nice tone, but if you really listen to what he says he is very self-centered and passive aggressive towards his students. His tests are ridiculously challenging, as I averaged an A in both the homework and quiz categories, yet a low D or even F on his tests. I think he is leaving CSU, which is good for future students as I would not recommend him to anyone.
Cons: Does have an accent. It does get better as you get used to it. Sit towards the front and participate and you'll be fine.
I really enjoyed Rosemond Desir's class. It was challenging, and I had to work hard for my A. His final was very tough, and most of his exams were challenging as well. I did, however, learn a ton from him. He really cares about his students, and know a lot about accounting. I never considered being an accountant before his class, and now I am an accounting major. Very nice professor, pay attention and engage with him in class. It will help your grade and especially if you have a border line. Take the class and work hard, it will be worth it. This isn't a class you can just roll over, but it is an awesome class. If you want a GOOD professor, take Desir.
Some very helpful extra credit.
Cons: Pop Quizzes
Rosemond was a great professor, but his tests were difficult.
You really have to study all of his power points, review homework and worksheets, read the book and do some of the optional online assignments in order to get an A in his class, but it is doable.
Go to every class, and get to know professor Desir as well as don't be afraid to answer questions in class. He will give a participation grade at the end of the semester that you can earn quite a bit of extra credit on if he knows you.
He is very willing to help you understand if you have questions about something, and I do recommend taking this class with Professor Desir. Just know you have to work hard to earn an A or B, but that is the nature of any business class.
Cons: Very disorganized and some of his lectures were very pointless. Very difficult test were many of the questions come from small pieces of info in the test.
Pretty tough for a non major in accounting. I spoke with Proffessor Desir many times to understand the material. He presents the material like its very simple but his tests and very difficult. He is a very helpful person out of class and has a great attitude. He frequently mentioned in class that he didn't like accounting which I thought was odd but he was still very helpful if you needed it.
Cons: Some tricky questions on tests, but if you have paid attention you will get them all. Sometimes hard to hear from the back of the room.
The nicest teacher I have had at CSU and you will frequently get out of class early. The tests are short, and all multiple choice. Still can be difficult if you are not prepared, but he strives to make them easy. Homework isn't due on a weekly basis, it is all due by one date. DO NOT NEED the book for this class if you simply pay attention and take good notes. Will work with you on any difficulties and will spend as much time on a subject as you need to understand it.
Cons: Sometimes hard to hear from the back of the class. A few tricky test questions, but nothing you can't manage by paying attention.

Cares about students
Cons: Really hard class
Desir is a great guy who really loves accounting. He is always willing to help students and creates a very good class environment. There are three tests (and then the final) which are all pretty difficult, especially if you are like me and haven't ever taken accounting before. The tests are made so that you have to really understand the concepts rather than just memorizing stuff. Desir doesn't hand out any grades, he makes you earn it. Be sure to participate in class and go to his office hours, there's a participation grade at the end of the semester. Starting out, I was in Jablonsky's class but wasn't fond of his 'calling out on people with notecards' routine. The general consensus I got from friends in that class was that Jablonsky was easier than Desir, gave out more extra credit. Desir seemed a lot more approachable but probably a tougher prof overall.
-The guy has a great sense of humor
-He makes himself available for help
Cons: -The participation grade (50pts) was based on if he recognized your name and how many quizzes you completed. The syllabus says you lose points for disrupting/missing class - but it does not say you will lose points if you don't raise your hand... I had an 88% going into the final without the participation; the participation grade pretty much dismantled my chances of getting an A. I would have raised my hand more if I knew this is how he was going to grade us...
Tests are pretty straight forward
Connect homework
Cons: Tough subject
Pop quizzes
Professor Desir really wants his students to do well. The class is pretty straight forward. The homework was online using Connect. He gives some pop quizzes, but he is pretty laid back as far as the grading goes for them. Overall, a really good professor for the class that everyone seems to dread.
